Back-to-back good news for Indian tourists as Thailand, on 1 November 2023, also announced visa-free entry for Indian tourists. It will be effective from 10 November 2023 to 10 May 2024. Along with Indian tourists, Thailand has also modified visa norms for Russia and Taiwan. However, Chinese and Kazakh tourists have already been granted temporary visa waivers. That means visitors holding Indian passports can now obtain visas for Thailand without any charges.
According to Thailand government spokesperson Chai Wacharonke, arrivals from India and Taiwan will be permitted to stay in Thailand for 30 days. Visa relaxation has been introduced to attract more tourists and rev up its economy.
Earlier on 24th October 2023 the government of Sri Lanka also announced visa-free entry for Indian tourists along with 6 more countries as a pilot project with immediate effect till 31st March 2024.
With almost 1.2 million arrivals, India has emerged as Thailand's 4th largest market for tourism this year after Malaysia China, and South Korea respectively.
